Research Interests:

My research is to explore and understand the functional materials for advanced applications in optics and optoelectronics. One of the effectivemethods to modulate the properties of the photoelectric functional materials is the effect induced by photonic band gap (PBG) which could be constructed artificially. For example, throughsuppressing spontaneous emission of the selected transitions, the excited-stateprocesses including excited state absorption (ESA), energy transfer (ET) and cross relaxation (CR) happening on the energy levels of rare earth ionsare enhancedby the PBG effect, thus the population on different energy levels and energydistribution among co-doped excited ions are controlled.
