Founded in 2001, the Psychological Counseling Center of Liaoning University is an institution for providing mental health education and services for teachers and students of the university. It has eight full-time psychological counselors and two administrative staff. Over the years, in order to improve students’ psychological quality and promote the harmonious development of students’ physical and mental health, the center has carried out a series of solid and effective work through psychological counseling, classroom teaching, psychological measurement, publicity activities, psychological training, and scientific research, and has won many awards collectively and individually.

The course “College Students’ Mental Health Education” was awarded the provincial first-class undergraduate course in 2020, and was also awarded the ideological and political demonstration course of the school curriculum in 2020. Another course “Introduction to Psychology” was awarded the national “Excellent General Course for College Quality Education”. Six central teachers have won the first prize in the Provincial University Mental Health Education Teacher Teaching Competition, one teacher won the honorary title of Municipal Teaching Model for Young University Teachers, three teachers won the title of university-level outstanding undergraduate teachers. The center staff were also awarded the “Advanced Individual of Teacher Ethics of Liaoning University”, and advanced anti-epidemic individuals twice.

By 2023, the center repeatedly won the national, and provincial “college students’ mental health education work advanced unit”, the first batch of “college students’ mental health education program in Liaoning province”, provincial “college students’ mental health education excellent teaching team”, the first batch of “Liaoning Province famous studio” for mental health education in universities, team honor for “ethics strengthen excellent case”, and “campus pioneer pilot program”.

Other awards include: three honorary titles of National Advanced Individual, four honorary titles of Provincial Advanced Individual, two municipal honorary titles, one title of “Shenyang Senior Talents”, one level of “Millions of Talents Project” in Liaoning Province; and ten other awards.

Located on both Puhe and Chongshan campuses, the psychological counseling center provides free psychological counseling services for all students and staff.
