The School of Mathematics was founded in 1958. Currently there are 34 full-time teachers, including nine professors, 14 associate professors and 11 lecturers. Among the teachers, there are three doctoral supervisors and 17 master supervisors. The college now has two undergraduate majors: Mathematics and applied mathematics, Information and computing sciences (enrollment is currently suspended). In 1998, it was approved to grant master's degree in the Second-level Disciplines of Applied mathematics. Mathematics was acknowledged as one among the First-level Disciplines Authorized to Grant Master's Degree in Mathematics in 2011. Now, it covers four second-level master's degrees in Fundamental mathematics, Applied mathematics, Probability and mathematical statistics, and Operations research and cybernetics. In 2012, it was approved as the Second-level Disciplines Authorized to Grant Doctorate Degree in Mathematical statistics.
The School of Mathematics has always attached equal importance to teaching and scientific research, while paying a lot of attention to improve the quality of teaching and talent training. Teachers and students are always encouraged to carry out in-depth scientific research. At present, there are many stable research directions in our school, such as Functional analysis, Algebra, Differential geometry, Partial differential equations, Probability and mathematical statistics, Operations research and cybernetics, and many meaningful research results have been obtained in these directions. In recent years, it has received more than 20 national natural science funds, more than 40 provincial funds and published more than 100 high-level papers.
