The School of International Economics and International Relations at Liaoning University was established in March 2004. It is a teaching and research center for cultivating compound talents of international politics, world economy, and Korean studies by providing a solid theoretical foundation, broad knowledge, and strong practical ability. The school has three departments: the Department of International Politics, the Department of World Economy, and the Department of Korean Studies. It also has three university level research institutes: the Institute of Northeast Asian Studies, the Institute of Russia, the Eastern Europe, and Central Asia, and the Center for East Asian Studies. There are 39 staff members in the school. The Department of International Politics has 2 professors, 4 associate professors, and 1 lecturers, who are responsible for teaching undergraduates majoring in international politics and graduates majoring in international relations, international politics, and diplomacy. The main research directions are the relations between great powers, the comparative political systems of the transition countries, the geopolitics of the Northeast Asia, China’s foreign relations and so on. There are 6 professors, 4 associate professors, and 3 lecturers in the Department of World Economy, who are mainly engaged in the teaching and research of the world economy, transition economy, and comparative political economy. There are 3 doctoral and master’s degree programs in world economy, transition economics, and comparative political economics. World economy is a national key discipline. The Department of Korean Studies has one professor, two associate professors, and five lecturers, who are engaged in teaching undergraduates majoring in Korean Studies.
