College of chemistry, Liaoning University has more than 50-year history. It was formed by the original Department of Chemistry and Center for Analysis and Testing, Liaoning University. We now have 89 faculty members and teaching staff including 25full professors and 27 associate professors. There are three provincial innovation teams including “Green Synthesis and Advanced Materials”, “Preparation and Application of Functional Polymer Materials”, “Design and synthesis of functionalized composites and its applications”, and two provincial key labs including “Green Synthesis and Advanced Material Preparation Chemistry”, “Rare Scatter Metals” in the College.
Currently, the Collage consists of three undergraduate majors: Chemistry, Applied Chemistry and Materials Chemistry. There are 400 undergraduate students in the college. Moreover, the graduate studies offer Master degrees in 7 disciplines (Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry and Physics, Applied Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering) and Ph.D. degrees in 5 disciplines (Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Polymer Chemistry and Physics). There are 320 graduate students in the college. Among these disciplines, Inorganic Chemistry is the provincial key discipline of Liaoning Province and the Chemistry is Liaoning University’s key constructive discipline of the national “211 Project”
Research in the College includes three major aspects: Thermodynamics of Solutions, Coordination Chemistry and the studies on dispersed elements. The research areas of staff in the academic covers several research directions, such as ionic liquid, synthesis of coordinating polymer, catalysis, nanomaterials, enrichment and separation of dispersed elements. The faculty members have been awarded dozens of awards by the Government of Liaoning Province.
