On June 12, Professor XIE Yungeng, who serves at School of Media & Design of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), delivered an academic speech for teachers and students from School of Journalism and Communication, which was entitled “How to Enhance China's International Discourse Right”.

Regarding the topic selection of thesis and research methods, Prof. XIE referred to the significance of topics of “National Strategy Level”, “Shared Fate of All Mankind” and some others, which were recommended topics for them to choose. Also, XIE stressed that researchers should not only concentrate on the field of journalism and communication, but break the boundaries of disciplines to get more new research ideas.

Then, Prof. XIE chose China's international discourse as the main topic of the lecture, and illustrated the importance of international discourse right and China’s scientific way of guiding world public opinions from several aspects, such as “problems of China's international discourse”, “causes for China’s shortage in international discourse”, “significance of China's fighting for international discourse” and “how to enhance China's international discourse right”.
