On June 1st of 2019, the meeting on the establishment of a joint research mechanism and the signing ceremony of the cooperative agreement between Liaoning University and the Foreign Affairs Office of Liaoning Provincial Government was held on Puhe Campus. The research mechanism is on regional cooperation between China and 17 Central and Eastern European countries. Mr. Song Qi, Member of Party Committee and Deputy Director of Liaoning Foreign Affairs Office, and Mr. Sun Shiguo, Vice President of LNU attended the ceremony.
Vice President Sun Shiguo extended gratitude to the Foreign Affairs Office for providing substantial support in the reform and development of LNU through the years. He pointed out that LNU attached great importance to the collaboration, and that on the basis of previous cooperative programs, it would fully integrate the resources of LNU, and organize high-level research teams to play the role of the new-type think tank. The research mechanism will focus on the major issues in the regional cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries of “17+1” Cooperation Mechanism. It will carry out in-depth study both theoretically and practically, thus making contributions to Liaoning Province’s engagement in the Belt and Road Initiative, and the deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Central and Eastern European countries.
Deputy Director Song Qi said that he hoped the jointly built research mechanism could enhance targeted and microscopic study, and provide intellectual support to the regional cooperation between China and the 17 Central and Eastern European countries. He also hopes that there would be a wider range of cooperation between LNU and the Foreign Affairs Office of Liaoning Provincial Government, thus making more contributions to the opening up of Liaoning Province.
