On December 16, the Institute of International Education held the “Chinese Classics Reading Competition for International Students”. Chinese and foreign students gathered together to appreciate the wonderful performances of the contestants.
There are 15 groups of international contestants participating in the competition. In addition to the international students on campus, students in Vietnam, South Korea, Tajikistan and other countries overseas also participated in the competition by submitting video works. The impressive performances of the contestants won bursts of applause from the faculty and students. Some of their recitation were sonorous and powerful, some gentle and beautiful, and others full of affection. The performances showed how much importance the contestants attached to the contest, and their love for the Chinese language and Chinese culture.
The competition not only created a learning atmosphere of “reciting classic poems and accumulating cultural knowledge” and enriched the cultural life of international students, but also enabled Chinese and foreign students to experience the profoundness of Chinese culture and the unique charm of Chinese poetry.
