LNU Teachers and Students Achieve Good Results in Proteus Simulation Design Competition

The final Proteus Simulation Design Competition at provincial level, sponsored by the Educational Department of Liaoning Province and undertaken by Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology, was successfully held in Benxi City and the results and awards were announced to the public on 27 September 2023.

With strong support from the university and huge efforts from the School of Physics, students majoring in measuring and controlling technology and instruments, microelectronic science and engineering, electric engineering and automation, as well as electronic and information science and technology, achieved good results in the competition with two first prizes, two second prizes and two third prizes after four teams out of seven successfully reached the provincial final with their active participation and recommendation from the school.

 

 

 

 

       The instructors

 

 

Xu Chao, senior experimenter at the School of Physics, Master supervisor, Director of Shenyang Instrument and Automation Society and head of Proteus Simulation Design Competition of Liaoning University. His main research area is intelligent perception and information processing. He has presided over five provincial and two municipal educational and scientific research projects, published 29 papers as the first author or corresponding author, invented eight authorized patents, published five software copyrights, guided students to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship activities to win more than 50 national and provincial awards, and individually won more than 10 awards as an outstanding instructor at innovation and entrepreneurship competitions at provincial level.

 

 

 

Li Bin, lecturer at the School of Physics. He mainly engages in the teaching of Single Chip Microcomputers, Measuring and Controlling Circuit, Design Fundamentals of Measuring and Controlling Instruments, as well as teaching  other courses. He has presided over one horizontal project and participated in five educational reform projects, instructed two university students' innovation and entrepreneurship training programs, and guided students to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions to win seven provincial awards.

  

 

 

Xu Panfeng, experimenter at the School of Physics. She mainly engages in experimental teaching and research in automatic control, sensors, and the embedded Internet of Things. In 2016 and 2020, she was awarded the Excellence Award for Undergraduate Experimental Teaching of Liaoning University. She has presided over two school-level educational reform projects, one horizontal project and participated in six scientific research projects from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Education Department. In addition, she has published more than 10 papers such as SCI and EI, instructed students to participate in three innovation and entrepreneurship projects for university students at or above the provincial level, and won more than 10 national and provincial competition awards.

 

 

 

Zhang Rui, lecturer, Ph.D.at the School of Physics. He mainly engages in scientific research and teaching in deep learning, mechanical system dynamics, and embedded Internet of Things. He has participated in one National 973 Project and one project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has guided students to win three prizes at or above the provincial level and published three SCI retrieval papers and 4 EI retrieval papers as the first author or corresponding author.

  

 

               

 

Wu Xinjie, professor at the School of Physics, Ph.D. He is Director of the National Research Institute of Error and Uncertainty, a member of the Instrument Science and Technology Professional Committee of China Education Association of Machinery Industry, a member of the Teaching Steering Committee of Instrument Major in Liaoning Province, Director of the School-Enterprise Alliance of Instruments in Liaoning Province, and Executive Director of Shenyang Instrument and Automation Society. He was named as an outstanding young scientific and technological worker in Shenyang, an outstanding young backbone teacher in Liaoning Province and an outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship instructor of higher institutions in Shenyang. He has presided over and participated in many scientific research and teaching projects launched by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Doctoral Program Fund of the Ministry of Education, the Research Start-up Fund for Returned Overseas Personnel of the Ministry of Education, the Department of Science and Technology of Liaoning Province, the Educational Department of Liaoning Province and by local governments. He has been authorized to invent eight patents, published more than 130 papers in domestic and foreign journals and academic conferences, instructed students to participate in 15 innovation and entrepreneurship projects for university students at or above the provincial level, guided students to win more than 60 awards in university students' innovation and entrepreneurship competitions at or above the provincial level, and individually won many awards as an excellent instructor in the competitions.

   As a circuit simulation software developed by British Lab Center Electronics, Proteus aims to achieve complete design to turn concepts to real products, from schematic design, single-chip programming, system simulation to PCB design. This competition not only trains students’ ability in combining interdisciplinary knowledge with technical ability and theory with innovative practice, but also displays the positive and courageous spirit of students at LNU. This further promotes the construction of "New Engineering" at Liaoning University and improves the training quality of innovative talents under the Project of Excellence.
