On October 16, 2023, the award ceremony for the 31^st and 32^nd Sun Yueqi Energy Science and Technology Awards was held in Beijing. Professor Pan Yishan, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Liaoning University, attended the ceremony and received the Energy Award in the 31^st Sun Yueqi Energy Science and Technology Awards.

The 31^st and 32^nd Sun Yueqi Energy Science and Technology Award were selected in September 2022 and 2023. Each session awarded four Energy Awards and 20 Youth Science and Technology Awards. In addition, more than 170 Sun Yueqi Outstanding Student Awards and eight Sun Yueqi Hometown Education Awards were also selected. Due to the impact of the pandemic, the 31^st Sun Yueqi Science and Education Foundation Awards Ceremony, originally scheduled for 2022, was postponed. The award ceremonies were held on October 16 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mr. Sun Yueqi, renowned as the ‘Industrial and Mining Tycoon’.

Established in 1992, the Sun Yueqi Energy Science and Technology Award was registered by the National Science and Technology Awarding Office as an official award in accordance with the ‘Management Measures for Establishing Scientific and Technological Awards by Non-governmental Organizations’. The award includes two categories: the Energy Award and the Youth Science and Technology Award, as well as awards for outstanding students in coal and petroleum higher education and hometown education. The awards are evaluated and presented annually. The Energy Award is aimed at recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to breakthroughs in the basic theories of energy science and technological progress.
