To enhance the friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between Liaoning Province and Tver Oblast in Russia, a delegation of 57 people led by Rudnia, Governor of Tver Oblast paid a visit to Liaoning Province under warm invitation. On the afternoon of Nov. 21, the Educational Group Docking Meeting between Liaoning Province and Government Sector of Tver Oblast in Russia was held at Friendship Hotel, attended by Luo Wenbo, Deputy Director of the Educational Department of Liaoning Province, Ogar Karenina, Director of the Department of Education of Tver Oblast, Han Dongmei, Division Chief of the International Exchanges Department of the Educational Department of Liaoning Province as well as school heads and officers from international exchanges departments of eight institutions of higher education under provincial administration. Huo Chunhui, Vice President of Liaoning University attended the meeting and delivered a speech on behalf of the school.

        Vice President Huo noted in his speech that blessed with a long history, Liaoning University has yielded tangible fruits in recent years with regard to cultural and educational exchanges with Russia. By attending international conferences and forums, exchange visits to each other’s school and cultural activities among students, LNU has redoubled its efforts in cooperating with institutions of higher education in Russia in a way to deepen the friendship of the two sides. In 2023, Pan Yishan, Secretary of the CPC Committee of LNU and Yu Miaojie, President of LNU made keynote speeches at many international conferences. LNU also signed cooperation agreements with an array of institutions of higher education in Russia such as Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, St Petersburg State University, Moscow State University, Far Eastern Federal University and paid visits to each other’s campus. The “Chinese Bridge” summer camp activities raked in great popularity among Russian students and 21 international students this year are able to start their respective programs at LNU.

        He added that the Applied Economics being a world’s first-class discipline, LNU is willing to launch possible cooperation with institutions of higher education in Tver Oblast in terms of first-class discipline construction. Meanwhile, LNU is also focusing on revitalizing its science and engineering programs where the two sides can explore cooperative projects in the fields such as chemistry, physics and materials. He hopes that based on the previous achievements LNU has made with institutions of higher education in Russia, cooperative ties and exchanges can be established between LNU and institutions of higher education in Tver Oblast. With efforts made in exchange visits of teachers and students, joint scientific research and hosting high level international conferences, new progress will be made in advancing cultural exchanges.

Ogar Karenina, Director of the Department of Education of Tver Oblast asked about the age structure of students from  Confucius Institute who took part in the “Chinese Bridge” summer camp activities and said it is imperative to build a community that connects institutions of higher education in Tver Oblast to make steady progress. She finally pointed out that the Applied Economics discipline in LNU enjoys great significance and they would like to strive toward that direction.
