Professor Artem Lukin from the Russian Far Eastern Federal University Delivers Boya Academic Lecture

On November 10, 2023, the 10th Boya Academic Lecture of Liaoning University was held in Conference Room 317 of the office building in Puhe Campus. The keynote speaker was Artem Lukin, Executive Vice President and Associate Professor of the School of Regional and International Studies at the Oriental College of the Russian Far Eastern Federal University. Professor Yu Miaojie, a representative of the National People's Congress, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Liaoning University, attended the lecture and presented books as a gift. The lecture was hosted by Dr. Yin Ruyu from the China Open Economy Research Institute of Liaoning University. Professor Yao Shujie, Dean of the Li Anmin Economic Research Institute introduced the guests and lecture.




Professor Artem Lukin lectured on 'Russia and Greater Eurasia' in five sections: the concept of Eurasia, China and Eurasia, India and Eurasia, the Greater Eurasian Partnership and ASEAN, and a Conclusion. He gave an account of the development history of Russia through nearly a thousand years. He also introduced the background, original intention, and development process of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Greater Eurasian Partnership, as well as initiatives of Russia’s current foreign policy. Professor Lukin pointed out that the Greater Eurasian Partnership has great significance in promoting economic development and cultural exchange, as well as cooperation with Russia, China, India, and ASEAN. Promoting cooperation in the Eurasian region between China and Russia is in line with the interests of regional development and the interests of both countries. He believes that there are prospects for further development in cooperation between China and Russia. Both parties can strengthen joint investment and technological cooperation, as well as start the dialogue process of bilateral economic cooperation. Professor Lukin 's lecture had a clear theme and rich content, inspiring teachers and students deeply.






Professor Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Liaoning University, presented books to Professor Artem Lukin after the lecture. Professor Xie Di, Executive Deputy Director of the Department of Economics, awarded Professor Lukin the Boya Academic Lecture commemorative certificate. Also, Associate Professor Chen Fu, Deputy Director of the Institute of Environmental Economics, commented on the lecture. A representative of teachers from the China Open Economy Research Institute presented flowers to pay tribute to Professor Lukin.

Dr. Yevich Shevchenko, Professor Xie Di, Deputy Director of Daily Work in the Economics Department of Liaoning University, Professor Li Yanzhi, Dean of the Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Liu Yi, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Professor Cui Zheng, Deputy Dean of Daily Work in the China Open Economy Research Institute, Qu Yi, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Department, and staff of the International Exchange Department and the Academy of Social Sciences participated in the lecture. More than 80 teachers and students attended the lecture from the School of Foreign Languages, National School of Economics and Politics, as well as from the China Open Economy Research Institute.

 

Artem Lukin, biographical information

Professor Lukin has a PhD in Political Science, is Executive Vice President and Associate Professor of the School of Regional and International Studies at the Oriental College of the Far Eastern Federal University of Russia, and is a recipient of the Outstanding Science Award at the Far Eastern Federal University. His research areas include international relations and security issues in Northeast Asia and the Asia Pacific region, as well as social, political, and economic affairs in the Russian Far East region. He has published multiple academic articles in internationally renowned publishing houses and academic institutions such as Routledge and Springer, as well as authoritative think tanks and professional journals such as the Korean Economic Institute of America, The National Bureau of Asian Research, Pacific Focus, and International Politics. His latest works include ‘Russia and the United States in the Asia Pacific: A Perspective of the English School’, ‘The Russia-US-China Strategic Triangle in the Asia Pacific’, and ‘The Russia-China entente and its future’.
