On Dec. 10, 2023, the commemorative meeting for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the College of History and the 2nd anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of History was held at the Jonathan KS Choi Hall on the Puhe Campus, Liaoning University. The meeting was attended by professor Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of LNU, and head of the Faculty of History, Bai Baoyu, Dean of Liaoning Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Sun Xiaozhong, Secretary of the Shenyang Cultural Relics and Museum Center, Li Shengneng, Dean of the Shenyang Cultural Relics and Museum Center, Zeng Yang, Curator of Xinle Site Museum in Shenyang, Cong Lili, Director of Shenyang Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Fan Lihong, Curator of “September 18” History Museum, Wen Ronggang, Dean of the College of History of Bohai University, Li Li, Deputy Director of Shenyang Palace Museum, Zuo Lijun, Curator of Museum of Liaoshangjing and Liu Lihua, Dean of History Department of Shenyang Normal University. The meeting was also joined by Han Yuchun, almuni in 1981 and First-class Researcher of Shenyang Municipal Commerce Bureau, Wang Zhongming, almuni in 1982 and former Director of CPC History Office of the Liaoning Committee of the Communist Party of China, Liang Qidong, almuni in 1983 and Deputy Director of Liaoning Academy of Social Sciences, Liu Peiliang, almuni in 1983 and President of Dalian Feimeiren Investment Corporation, Du Xilin, almuni in 1984 and Curator of Liaoning Provincial Library, Liu Qingsong, almuni in 1985 and Secretary of the CPC Committee, President and editor in chief of Liaohai Publishing House, Li Guowei, almuni in 1986 and Director of Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Liaoning Province, Wu Zhifeng, almuni in 1987 and Deputy Secretary of the Working Committee of Shenyang Municipal Authorities, Xing Peng, almuni in 1991 and Deputy Secretary of Municipal CPC Committee and Mayor of Panjin City of Liaoning Province, Hua Yujie, almuni in 1999 and Deputy Director of Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism as well as heads of relevant departments at the university, heads of the Faculty of History, representatives of retired teachers and students. The meeting was hosted by professor Wang Yi, Deputy Dean of the College of Information Resources and Management of the Faculty of History.
Professor Yu delivered a welcoming speech, in which he expressed his warm welcome to the leader and guests present at today’s meeting and a sincere greeting to the fellow alumni at home and abroad as well as the whole faculty and students at LNU. He also extended his thanks to the leaders at different levels and friends from different walks of life who have shown long-term care and support to the development of LNU. He noted that founded in 1953, the College of History was built with a solid foundation and a bright development history. With great importance to the development of the history discipline, the Faculty of History came into being in Dec. 2021 including the College of History, the College of Archaeology and Cultural Relics, and the College of Information Resources and Management. He stressed that the whole faculty should fully deliver on the Xi Jinping thought on culture and promote cultural inheritance and innovation in a way to make greater contribution for China to become a culturally powerful country. He expressed his hope that alumni can visit their alma mater often to care more for and support the development of LNU.

Sun Weixiang, Deputy Director of the Faculty, read the congratulatory letter written by Yang Song, almuni in 1989 and President of Shenyang Normal University, Li Yujun, Dean of the College of History and Culture of Liaoning Normal University, and Li Shujuan, Dean of the College of History of Harbin Normal University.
Speeches were made by Bai Baoyu, Dean of Liaoning Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and Zuo Lijun, Curator of Museum of Liaoshangjing, on behalf of the cooperative units.
Speeches were also given by Guan Jie, almuni in 1956 and former professor of the College of History at LNU and Vice President of Dalian Minzu University, Wang Haichen, almuni in 1977 and former professor of the College of History at LNU and professor at Wenzhou University and Chen Shun, a partner of Sydney Law Firm in Australia.
As a representative of retired teachers, Shi Qinghuan, former Dean of the College of History, delivering a speech.
Speeches were given by professor Hua Yubin, a Doctoral Supervisor at the College of Archaeology and Cultural Relics, professor Zhao Shumei, College of Information Resources and Management, and Yan Zheng, Ph.D., College of History.
Speeches were also given by undergraduate student representatives Zhao Yufei and Pang Junbai.
The commemorative meeting for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the College of History and the 2nd anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of History came to a successful end in lovely songs.
