The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) Chinese Economy Working Group will hold its Summer/Fall meeting in Shenyang, China, on August 22-23,2024. The meeting will be hosted by Liaoning University. The meeting welcomes new and interesting research on all aspects of the Chinese economy, and is open to papers from a variety of fields. As the spring meeting gives a small preference to papers in the applied microeconomic fields, this meeting will give a small preference to papers in macroeconomics and finance.
Papers presented at the meeting will not be published in a proceedings volume or distributed as NBER working papers. Most of the papers presented will eventually be published in academic journals. To submit a paper for potential presentation, please upload a PDF file by April 6, 2024 to this link:
https://conference.nber.org/confsubmit/backend/cfp?id=CEf24
Please feel free to forward this call to the authors of other papers that might be suitable for presentation.
Preference will be given to empirically oriented papers or applied theory papers with clear empirical implications for which at least a preliminary draft is ready by the time of the submission. The organizers welcome submissions of papers by scholars who are early in their careers, who are not NBER affiliates, and who are from groups that are under-represented in the economics and finance professions. Only authors of accepted papers will be contacted.
