On March 20, 2024, Vice President Huo Chunhui met Medina Hajdarevic, Acting Consul General of the Australian Consulate General in Shenyang at the reception room of the Office Building, Puhe Campus, conducting friendly exchanges on cooperation of universities between China and Australia.

Vice President Huo expressed his thanks for Medina’s visit to Liaoning University. He made an introduction to Liaoning University in terms of its history, discipline construction and the achievements made in recent years. He noted that Liaoning University had forged long-term and stable ties with Australia. In 1999, Liaoning University cooperated with the University of Victoria in Australia to establish a joint College, the Asia Australia Business College (AABC), and this year marks the 25th anniversary of its founding. Today, AABC is built with a strong foundation and is expanding to enroll more students, having attracted a sound reputation both at home and abroad.

In recent years, Liaoning University is actively adjusting its strategies and accelerating its pace in international cooperation by signing a slew of inter-institutional agreements with institutions of higher education in Australia and identifying initial intentions for cooperation. Huo Chunhui also expressed his expectation that the Australian Consulate General in Shenyang will provide more support and resources to jointly promote the ‘Double First-Class’ construction of Liaoning University.

Listening carefully to the historical path of Liaoning University, Acting Consul General Medina Hajdarevic thought highly of the tangible fruits that Liaoning University had yielded. She stated that after 25 years’ development, AABC is now enjoying fruitful achievements, made under the joint efforts of teachers and students from the two universities. She added that currently China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi was paying a visit to Australia, exploring cooperation with Australia in culture, sports, and education. Against the backdrop of the bilateral relationship’s positive evolution, the Australian Consulate General in Shenyang is willing to join hands with other parties to serve as a bridge to offer due support for the international endeavors of Liaoning University.
