On May 17, 2024, Liaoning University Song Zexing Famous Lecture Series (the 18th Lecture) was held in Jonathan KS Choi Hall of Puhe Campus. Professor Jin Bei, a famous economist and fellow of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was invited to give an academic report titled ‘Economic Thinking of New Quality Productivity Research’. The report meeting was hosted by Liaoning University and organized by the Faculty of Economics, Business School and the Institute of New Quality Productivity of Liaoning University. Around 500 participants attended the meeting, including those in charge and representatives of faculty members and students from the Faculty of Economics. The meeting was hosted by Professor Wang Weiguang, Deputy Director of the Faculty of Economics of Liaoning University.

Professor Yu Miaojie, a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress, a fellow of the International Economic Association, and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Liaoning University, attended the report meeting and delivered a welcoming speech. In his speech, President Yu Miaojie expressed a sincere welcome and gratitude to Professor Jin Bei for taking the time out of his busy schedule to come to Liaoning University to deliver valuable knowledge and to agreeing to be appointed as a lifelong honorary professor. Yu Miaojie also gave a detailed introduction to the attending teachers and students about Professor Jin Bei’s outstanding academic achievements and significant contributions in the field of economics.

At the report meeting, Professor Jin Bei gave a new interpretation of the economic theoretical paradigm of new qualitative productivity, which holds particularly important epistemological and logical significance for the generalization of the concept of ‘human’. The generalization of ‘human’ not only includes the relationship between humans and nature, but also the relationship between humans, that is, in Marxist terms, that the essence of ‘human’ is the sum of social relationships. The concept of ‘human’ in the economic thinking of new productive forces has evolved from ‘economic human’ and ‘organizational human’ to ‘intelligent robots’, he continued. When the study of new productive forces opens to the economic thinking of digital artificial intelligence, mainstream economics will undergo a disruptive paradigm shift. Concern about qualitative productivity rather than quantitative productivity is an important economic attribute of new qualitative productivity. Professor Jin emphasized that the paradigm shift in economics requires incorporating factors such as ‘long-term’, ‘future’, ‘stock’, and ‘diversity’ into the observation and research system. This is the logical basis for the integration of regional economics and new qualitative productivity. It can guide the ‘micro-macro’ paradigm system of modern economics to conduct more scientific study of new phenomena arising in the new era and world.

Professor Zhang Guangsheng, Dean of the Business School, spoke highly of Professor Jinbei's report and shared his own understanding. Professor Zhang Guangsheng stated that the theme of Professor Jin's lecture is the economic thinking of new qualitative productivity. The research perspective is very innovative. It fully demonstrated the effective combination of problem-oriented and theoretical understanding.

At the end of the meeting, President Yu Miaojie presented Professor Jinbei with a commemorative plaque of the Song Zexing Lecture Series of Liaoning University and a letter of appointment as a lifetime honorary professor. Professor Ma Xiaojun, Deputy Secretary, Deputy Dean and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of Business School, presented Professor Jinbei with a souvenir. Professor Han Liangliang, Deputy Dean of the Business School, presented Professor Jinbei with a university hat. Professor Zhang Guangning, Deputy Dean of the Business School, wore the university badge for Professor Jinbei. Professor Xu Jin of the Business School presented a bouquet for Professor Jinbei.
