On September 6, 2024, University (LNU) held a celebration for the 40th Teachers’ Day, which included an awards ceremony and a retirement ceremony for senior teachers, as well as an oath-taking ceremony for new teachers for the year 2024. Pan Yishan, Secretary of the LNU CPC Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Vice President Li Yupeng, Secretary of the School Discipline Inspection Commission Zhang Hongxin, Vice President Shi Baodong, and Vice President Huo Chunhui attended the conference. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Li Yupeng. Representatives of commended collectives and individuals, retired teachers, inducted teachers, students, and administrators of LNU attended the ceremony.
On behalf of the LNU CPC Committee, Pan Yishan extended holiday greetings to all faculty and staff who have been silently working, selflessly dedicating themselves, and fighting on the front lines of teaching, research, management, and service for a long time. He paid high respect to old colleagues who have contributed their lives to the development of the university’s cause and retired with honor. He warmly welcomed inducted teachers and sincerely congratulated the outstanding teachers who have been commended. He said that this year marks the 40th Teachers’ Day in China, and that LNU has elaborately planned a series of celebration activities to create a strong atmosphere of valuing, caring for, and respecting teachers throughout the university. Every step forward, every vivid scene, and every touching image of the university cannot be separated from the deep feelings of the teachers towards LNU, their infinite love for work, and their redoubled efforts to students. It is precisely because of everyone’s joint efforts that LNU has forged a profound heritage and unique temperament. LNU has been passed down from generation to generation with passionate newly inducted teachers, tireless in-service teachers, and honorable retired teachers who have contributed their entire lives to make the 76-year glory of today.
Pan Yishan also expressed deep gratitude to the retired old colleagues, a warm welcome to the inducted teachers, and congratulations and respect to the commended teachers. He told stories and deeds of the old colleagues, inducted teachers, and commended teachers to inspire the faculty and staff to never forget their original aspirations and forge ahead.
Finally, he put forward four hopes and requirements to all faculty and staff. He emphasized the need to be a model for high-quality classroom teaching. We need to work hard at giving deep, thorough, and lively lectures, focus on PPT production and blackboard design, and put in effort to improve classroom quality, so that students are willing to listen from the bottom of their hearts. To achieve teacher-student interaction and mutual learning, in the process of teaching and learning, it is necessary to reflect both the resonance between teachers and students and the collision of knowledge. The second is to be a practitioner of the comprehensive implementation of real problems in social reality at LNU. Adhere to the educational philosophy of ‘stepping out of campus, entering society, and staying at the forefront’, deeply implement the integration of real problems in social reality into talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services. We need to rely on 14 urban research institutes to guide teachers to take real problems encountered in the period of the three-year action plan as research topics, thesis topics, classroom teaching topics, and competition topics to contribute to the three-year action plan of the comprehensive revitalization of Liaoning. Thirdly, we must be leaders of excellent professional ethics and conduct. It requires every teacher to adhere to the bottom line of professional ethics. Once there are problems with professional ethics and conduct, we must resolutely implement the ‘one vote veto’ system. The fourth is to be the inheritor of the temperament of LNU. The spirit of ‘red genes, eldest son sentiment, tolerance and openness, diligence and self-improvement’ of LNU needs to be jointly promoted and inherited by all members of the university. Building LNU well is a marathon style relay race. It requires every teacher to pass on the baton one by one, running section by section, to take the effort of this generation to achieve the best for the next generation. He hoped that everyone from LNU would make great efforts to create a new chapter of the Chinese path to modernization and make greater contributions to the construction of a strong country and national rejuvenation.
At the meeting, Zhang Hongxin read out ‘The Decision on Commending the 2024 National May Day Labor Medal’, ‘The Decision on Commending the 2023 Liaoning Youth May Fourth Medal Collective, Liaoning Provincial Outstanding Communist Youth League Member, and The Shenyang Youth May Fourth Medal’, and the list of retired teachers of Liaoning University in 2024. Shi Baodong read out ‘The Decision on Commending the 2024 exemplary organization of Liaoning University’s Construction of Teacher Morality, Excellent Teaching and Research Team of Teacher Morality Demonstration, and Teacher Morality Pacesetter’, and ‘The Decision on Commending the Revitalizing Liaoning Talents Plan teachers, Revitalizing Shenyang Talents Plan teachers, and 2023 Liaoning ordinary colleges and universities undergraduate master teachers, Decision of the Second Group of National First class Undergraduate Courses to Recognize Liaoning Provincial Famous Undergraduate Teachers, and the First Group of Provincial Famous Teachers for Ideological and Political Demonstration Courses (Undergraduate Education)’. In addition, he led the newly recruited teacher representatives to make a solemn oath of induction. Huo Chunhui read out ‘The Decision on Commending Outstanding Graduate Supervisors, Outstanding Graduate Mentor Teams, and the First Group of Provincial Course Ideological and Political Demonstration Course (Graduate Education) Teaching Masters in Liaoning Province in 2023’ and ‘The Decision on Commending the Advanced Collective and Excellent Counselors of Student Work at Liaoning University in 2022-2023’.
