On September 28, 2024, the opening ceremony of the 49th track and field sports meeting and the military training display of the 2024 undergraduates of Liaoning University were held at the stadium of Puhe Campus. Pan Yishan, Secretary of the CPC Committee, Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President, Li Yupeng, Vice President, Zhang Hongxin, Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection, Huo Chunhui, Vice President, Qiu Huanguang, Vice President and Xie Zhengyi, Deputy Political Commissar of the Colonel of the 32296 Army of the People’s Liberation Army of China attended the opening ceremony. Heads of departments, teaching schools and colleges and directly affiliated units also attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Hongxin.

Yu Miaojie delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He noted that sports is not only an important embodiment of a country’s comprehensive strength, but also an important carrier of cultural self-confidence, bearing the dream of national prosperity and rejuvenation. He added that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee emphasized the deep integration of national fitness and national health, highlighting the importance of sports in the overall development of a country. He continued that Liaoning University had been committed to creating a sports culture to build up students’ bodies and cultivate their hearts and morals.    

 He stressed that the sports culture at Liaoning University had inspired the whole university to seek excellence in sports events and climb new heights amid challenges. He hoped that by holding this event, a healthy lifestyle could be embedded into everyone’s heart so as to boost the development of the sports cause of the university. He also expected that the sports culture could promote the university’s high-quality development and contribute to the overall revitalization of Liaoning Province and the campaign to build China into a leading sporting nation.

 

 

 

 

 

   

In the swearing-in session, the athlete representative Geng Yuanhang from the Law School and the referee representative Li Bingyang from the Sports Faculty Department solemnly swore.

 

 

 

   

In the display of military training, the 2024 undergraduates displayed quick march, military boxing phalanx and military assassination exercises. The students’ forceful steps and uniform movements showed the elegance and responsibility of the youth at Liaoning University.
