On October 30, the opening of the 6th "Golden Ball Festival" of Liaoning University and the final of the 2024 Liaoning University basketball tournament were held at the Puhe Campus Gymnasium. Vice President Li Yupeng attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The opening ceremony was presided over by Jiang Ji, the director of the Sports Teaching and Research Department. Personnel in charge of related units attended the opening ceremony.

In her speech, Li Yupeng pointed out that our university has thoroughly implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, conscientiously implemented the Party's education and sports work policies, regarded sports as an important means to promote students' comprehensive development, continuously strengthened the construction of sports facilities, improved the sports curriculum system, enriched the connotation of sports culture, and achieved remarkable results. In various sports competitions, our school's athletes have fought bravely and achieved excellent results, winning honors for the school and making positive contributions to the development of sports for Chinese college students. She hopes that teachers and students can take this "Golden Ball Festival" as an opportunity to further promote the Olympic spirit of "faster, higher, stronger, and more united", actively participate in sports exercise, enjoy the fun of sports, enhance physical fitness, improve personality, and temper willpower.

After the opening ceremony, the Chongshan campus representative team composed of teachers from School of Information Science, School of Mathematics and Statistics, also from other offices and colleges of Chongshan campus. The Puhe campus representative team composed of teachers from the Asia Australia Business School, the Law School, and other units of the Puhe campus. The two teams presented a wonderful basketball game to the audience. After intense competition, the Puhe Campus representative team won the championship of 2024 basketball tournament, while the Chongshan Campus representative team won the runner up.

The holding of “Golden Ball Festival” is not only a comprehensive review of the university’s sports competition level, but also a profound interpretation of the spirit of unity, cooperation, hard work and enterprising spirit of the majority of teachers and students. Teachers and students join hands and work together to promote the vigorous development of the university’s sports industry and contribute the wisdom and strength of people from LNU to building a sports powerhouse.
