From October 27 to 29, 2024, China Scholarship Council held the 5th UN Job Fair in Beijing and Nanjing respectively, attracting 50 representatives from 28 UN agencies to join. A delegation led by teachers Zhao Wenshu and Li Zhibin from the Office of International Affairs of Liaoning University attended the event at Tsinghua University.
The publicity and consultation event was hosted by China Scholarship Council, aiming to build a dialogue platform between universities in China and international organizations and facilitate high quality young talents to involve themselves in international organizations. Adhering to the United Nations purpose of developing internationally friendly relations, the event offered diversified and challenging internship opportunities for young students in a way to achieve joint solutions of economic, social, cultural and humanitarian issues through international cooperation. With 28 international organizations at site including the United Nations, UNESCO and the International Telecommunication Union, consultation stands were set up to present consulting services to nearly 2,300 participants. The event attracted more than 70 Chinese universities and educational institutions such as Beihang University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Sichuan International Studies University and Liaoning University. Such events have been successfully held for four years, significantly enhancing the understanding of Chinese youth on the performance of international organizations and promoting the in-depth cooperation between Chinese universities and international organizations.
22 students from the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Information, the Faculty of History, School of Communication, School of Physics, School of Foreign Studies and School of Foreign Studies (Wusheng Campus) participated the activity. They actively interacted with the international organizations they were interested in to acquire more information about the performance and future development opportunities, presenting an professional and enterprising image of Liaoning University students.
Dai Sile from the School of Foreign Studies noted that she benefited a lot from the event by learning the concepts and requirements of many international institutions. She added that the event also brought herself closer to the United Nations and would inspire her to forge ahead in the future. Lu Qi from the School of Physics noted that she would take every step in a down-to-earth manner to improve herself. Zhao Xinyu from School of Foreign Studies (Wusheng Campus) noted that as long as everyone actively participated in social welfare undertakings, more contributions could be made and the world would be a better place to live in.
Liaoning University attaches great importance to the international training of students and promotes them to integrate themselves into the international community by encouraging them to hold important positions in international organizations and institutions. As part of its strategy of ‘going out’ , the event works to cultivate students’ international abilities to think and coordinate. By doing so, the students can showcase a positive image of Liaoning University and get the ‘Liaoning University Voice’ heard on the international stage.
