The 5th Liaoning Province University Students’ Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Competition, co-sponsored by Liaoning Provincial Department of Education and Liaoning Provincial Department of Finance, and undertaken by Shenyang Institute of Science and Technology just came to a successful end. This year’s competition included three categories: original works of intelligent manufacturing models, creative design works of intelligent manufacturing and lean management works of intelligent manufacturing. A total of 1411 works were awarded after qualification examination, preliminary contest, works defense and notification. 60 works from 14 colleges and schools from Liaoning University, including School of Physics, Faculty of Information, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Chemistry, School of Finance and Trade, Sunwah International Business School, Institute of International Education, School of Marxism, Business School, School of Life Sciences, School of Liberal Arts, Asia-Australia Business College and School of Light Industry were all awarded with three first prizes, 16 second prizes and 41 third prizes. Teachers Kang Dawei, Wang Peiying, Li Xue, Xue Youlin and Wang Shumin were awarded the honorary title of ‘Excellent Instructor’. The students participated in the competition represented different disciplines, fully reflecting the advantage of interdisciplinary integration of Liaoning University as a comprehensive university.

The school-level competition for the competition was hosted by School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Academic Affairs Office, Liaoning University Committee of the Communist Youth League and undertaken by School of Light Industry of Liaoning University. The school-level competition included a process of strict selection, guidance from teachers Wang Shumin and Luo Hao, review and recommendation, pre-defense and other activities.    

By organizing undergraduate students to participate in the competition, Liaoning University aims to show its great importance to train talents in intelligent manufacturing and further consolidates its foundation in training innovative talents. The competition was guided by solving real issues in the society, which stimulated students’ innovative thinking, practical ability and teamwork.
