The 12th International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition China National Round (in English) was held offline on March 8-9, 2025, in Luzhou, Sichuan. This year’s competition featured 62 university teams from across China. After the written submission review phase, 27 teams advanced to the oral round. After two days of intense debates, the Law School of Liaoning University (LNU) won the national second prize in the ICC English competition.

About the competition
The 12th ICC Moot Court Competition China National Round (in English) was jointly organized by the University of Political Science and Law and Southwest Medical University, with the collaboration of Beijing Long’an Law Firm, the Judicial Appraisal Center of Southwest Medical University, and Sichuan Hengzheng Law Firm. The competition aims to strengthen the training of international legal talent, enhance the legal English proficiency of Chinese law students, and improve their expertise in international law.
Team composition
The 2025 LNU ICC English Competition team was coached by Professor Gao Ning and Teacher Su Bojia from Law School, with Teacher Zhao Qiuye as the team leader. Su Haixin, a graduate student of Class 2023, was the team captain, with Du Yanan, a graduate student of Class 2024, Yan Bo, Li Xinrui, and Rao Sheyu, undergraduate students of Class 2023 from Law School as the official team members. The team also received valuable support and assistance from auxiliary members: current students Wang Yixuan, Fan Jia, Zhang Yu, Zhang Xinyang, and Wu Jingya, as well as alumni Gu Fang, Li Ziyue, Cai Yiqing, and Wang Jingyuan from previous LNU ICC teams.

Competition process
From the release of the mock trial case in October 2024 to the final courtroom debate, the team members persisted in their relentless learning and efforts, continuously accumulating experience and surpassing themselves. Under the guidance of the coaches and the captain, the team focused on a solid foundation in the early stages, extensively studying the basic knowledge related to the competition. They gradually expanded their perspectives and deepened their thinking, eventually reaching a point of clarity and success. With their exceptional performance, the team achieved a well-deserved second prize at the national level, bringing a perfect conclusion to their six months of hard work and dedication.

During the final courtroom debate, the LNU team featured Du Yanan as the defense attorney, Li Xinrui as the prosecution attorney, Yan Bo as the victim’s attorney, and Su Haixin and Rao Sheyu as researchers. They faced off against teams from various universities, with each confrontation providing the team members with a fully engaging and enriching experience.



Since 2019, the LNU ICCMCC team has consistently demonstrated a strong foundation in professional knowledge, excellent teamwork, and a high level of enthusiasm for the competition, earning multiple first and second prizes as well as the “best brief” awards. This achievement reflects the proactive exploration and successful outcomes of Law School at LNU in cultivating international legal talents. The LNU team will continue to build on their experiences, strive for further excellence, and work tirelessly to nurture more outstanding legal professionals with an international perspective.
