
On June 12, 2025, Yu Miaojie, President of Liaoning University (LNU), met with Zhang Mei, Chairperson of the Shenyang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (Shenyang Qiaolian), and her delegation at the Puhe Campus. University leaders Zhang Hongxin and Lu Hui attended the meeting.

President Yu Miaojie extended a warm welcome to Chairperson Zhang Mei and her delegation. He expressed gratitude for the longstanding care and support provided by the Shenyang Qiaolian to the university. President Yu briefly introduced LNU and the achievements made in its “Double First-Class” initiative. He stated that the university is currently at a crucial stage of development under the “Double First-Class” initiative, and the development of its medical disciplines is of significant importance for enhancing the overall strength and level of its discipline construction. Inspired by successful cases of university-hospital collaboration nationwide, President Yu expressed hope to leverage this opportunity to deeply explore the potential for cooperation and expand collaborative content between the university and the PLA General Hospital of Northern Theater Command. He emphasized the aim to promote mutually beneficial development for both institutions through pooling their respective strengths.

Chairperson Zhang Mei congratulated LNU on its outstanding achievements in the “Double First-Class” initiative and other endeavors. She stated that the Shenyang Qiaolian hopes to serve as a bridge to facilitate the establishment of a cooperative relationship between the university and the PLA General Hospital of Northern Theater Command. Through in-depth exchanges and interaction, both sides can jointly contribute to the development of education and healthcare in Liaoning.
Duan Yang, Senior Colonel (Professional Technology), Chief Physician of the Department of Radiology at the PLA General Hospital of Northern Theater Command, and Standing Committee Member of the Shenyang Qiaolian, introduced the development of the hospital. He expressed the hospital’s desire to integrate and develop with renowned local universities, cultivate talent for medical disciplines, and provide strong support for the advancement of medical science.
The two sides also discussed and exchanged views on the specific directions and content of potential university-hospital collaboration.
Relevant leaders of the university’s Party and Administration Office, the CPC Committee United Front Work Department, the Development Planning and Discipline Construction Office, and the University Hospital also attended the meeting.
