LNU Faculty Excel at the 16th “SFLEP Cup” Foreign Language Teaching Contest in Liaoning Province

Recently, the final of the 16th “SFLEP Cup” National Foreign Language Teaching Contest (Liaoning Division), hosted by the College of Foreign Studies of Liaoning University (LNU) concluded with great success. Two faculty members from the College of Foreign Studies, Yu Yuanning and Zhao Qiunan, demonstrated exceptional performance with their solid professional expertise, innovative instructional designs and outstanding on-site delivery, standing out in the fiercely competitive event. Yu Yuanning not only secured the sole qualification from Liaoning Province to advance to the national finals in the Integrated Skills Group but also claimed the First Prize in Liaoning Province. Meanwhile, Zhao Qiunan was honored with the Second Prize in the Viewing, Listening and Speaking Group. These achievements elevated Liaoning University to the first place among the universities in Liaoning Province for both the number of award recipients and the quality of accolades in this contest, setting a new historical record in the universitys participation in the prestigious event.

 

   

The “SFLEP Cup” National Foreign Language Teaching Contest, initiated in 2010, has been held for 16 consecutive years. It stands as one of the most authoritative and influential foreign language teaching contests in China. For five consecutive years, it has been included in the “National Teaching Development Index for Faculty in Chinese Undergraduate Institutions” released by the China Association of Higher Education and has consistently ranked the first among foreign language teaching contests. The contest aims to comprehensively evaluate and enhance the teaching capabilities and professional competence of foreign language teachers at universities and colleges. It features provincial-level contests across China with categories including the Integrated Skills Group and the Viewing, Listening and Speaking Group, attracting participation from foreign language teachers at higher education institutions nationwide.    

This year’s provincial competition consists of preliminary and final rounds. A total of 94 foreign language teachers from 54 universities, including Dalian University of Technology, Northeastern University, Dalian Maritime University, Dalian University of Foreign Languages, and Dongbei University of Finance and Economics took part in the event.
