Wu Xuemei, member of the Party Committee and Vice Chairperson of the Liaoning Federation of Social Sciences conducted an investigation visit at Liaoning University (LNU) and held a meeting a few days ago. Qiu Huanguang, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Liaoning University joined the meeting.
Wu Xuemei noted that this visit primarily focused on recommending review experts for Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievement Awards to other provinces, the development of social science federations among universities and the Liaoning Provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievement Awards. She emphasized that as a national “Project 211” key university and an institution under the “Double First-Class” initiative, Liaoning University possesses a solid foundation in philosophy, social sciences and humanities. Over the years, the university has fully leveraged its disciplinary strengths, achieving outstanding results in philosophy and social sciences, as evidenced by its remarkable performance in past successive rounds of the Liaoning Provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievement Awards. The university has also made significant progress in building social science research bases, in large quantities of think tank achievements produced to serve major national strategies and local economic and social development. She expressed the hope that the Liaoning Federation of Social Sciences and Liaoning University could establish a regular cooperation mechanism, build channels for academic information exchange, optimize resource-sharing mechanisms to combine their respective strengths, further strengthen their partnership to jointly promote the high-quality development of philosophy and social sciences in Liaoning Province.
On behalf of Liaoning University, Qiu Huanguang expressed his gratitude to the Liaoning Federation of Social Sciences for its long-standing care and support. He noted that in recent years, under the guidance of the provincial federation, Liaoning University has continuously strengthened the development of provincial federation research bases, project applications, achievement cultivation and academic exchanges while improving the development of the Liaoning University Social Sciences Federation to comprehensively advance the flourishing of philosophy and social sciences in the province. Moving forward, the university will further seize development opportunities, align with major national strategic plans, focus on the central tasks of the provincial Party Committee and government, and concentrate on the revitalization of Liaoning Province. It will proactively plan for the work of the 15th “Five-Year Plan” period, diligently implement recommendations, scientifically chart development pathways, accelerate the production of high-level research achievements with distinct Liaoning University characteristics. It will also provide robust support for building a high-level comprehensive research university with distinctive regional features, and make greater contributions to serving local economic and social development. Finally, he expressed the hope that the Provincial of Social Sciences would continue to increase its support to Liaoning University to assist in the university’s “Double First-Class” initiative.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the development of the Liaoning University Social Sciences Federation, suggestions for the selection process of the Liaoning Philosophy and Social Sciences Awards, the scope of provincial federation research projects, base development and academic activities.
Relevant officials and staff from the Liaoning Federation of Social Sciences and the Department Humanities and Social Sciences of Liaoning University attended the meeting.
