LNU Holds Coordination Meeting for Joint Economics Master’s Program with VT

On August 26, 2025, Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Liaoning University (LNU), presided over a coordination meeting for the joint economics master’s program with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VT) in Room 206 of the Administrative Building at the Puhe Campus. The meeting was chaired by Xie Mingyi, Director of the Office of International Affairs.

                                    

   


The Office of International Affairs provided a brief overview of the preliminary work completed for the program, introduced VT and its economics discipline, and outlined the challenges anticipated during implementation.

Representatives from relevant functional departments then delivered remarks, engaging in in-depth discussions on issues including student enrollment and promotion, curriculum design and training, credit recognition and transfer, student management, and program coordination.


     

   


In his concluding remarks, President Yu Miaojie acknowledged the substantial efforts made by all departments during the preparatory phase and outlined three critical directives for the program’s next phase. Emphasizing the need for comprehensive strategic planning, he stressed the importance of identifying key challenges and opportunities to develop scientifically sound countermeasures and contingency plans. President Yu further highlighted the necessity of strengthening interdepartmental coordination by clarifying responsibilities and establishing an integrated working mechanism to ensure seamless collaboration across all functional units. Finally, he called for accelerated implementation through clearly defined timelines and achieving tangible results at the earliest opportunity.

The coordination meeting was attended by a distinguished group of university leaders and administrators, including Song Peng, Dean of Graduate School, Dong Baomin, Deputy Director of Division of Economics, Kong Xiao, Office Director of Division of Economics, and Yin Ruyu, Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs, along with other relevant colleagues.
