On September 10, Liaoning University (LNU) held the Opening Ceremony and Military Training Mobilization Meeting for 2025 Undergraduate Freshmen at the stadium of the Puhe Campus. Pan Yishan, Secretary of the University Party Committee, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Yu Miaojie, President of the University, also extended a warm welcome and sincere blessings to the students. University leaders including Zhang Hongxin, Wang Peng, Yan Hai, Lu Hui, Lu Anhui, as well as the members of the University Party Committee Standing Committee Tong Yan and Wu Jilong, were present at the ceremony.

The ceremony officially kicked off with the solemn national anthem.

Pan Yishan delivered a message to all freshmen under the theme of “Becoming Pioneers of the ‘New Ecosystem’ for Innovation at Liaoning University”. He pointed out that the students are living in a great and vibrant era, an era of rapid changes, and an era of making contributions and achieving accomplishments. Only by possessing innovative thinking, innovative awareness, innovative spirit, and innovative capabilities can they seize better opportunities, meet greater challenges, and take on heavier responsibilities.

He stated that after years of exploration, the university has developed a path toward LNU’s “new ecosystem” for innovation, which follows the logic of “real-world social scenarios genuine problems innovation”. In this “new ecosystem” for innovation at LNU, the feelings for family and country serve as the fundamental foundation that nurtures its essence; the “First Classroom” (formal curriculum-based teaching) acts as the main trunk that grows toward the sun; the “Second Classroom” (extracurricular activities) provides the nutrients for luxuriant branches and leaves; and platform resources serve as the fertile soil that enables the garden of peaches and plums (a metaphor for nurturing talents) to thrive.

He hoped that in the process of integrating into LNU’s innovation “new ecosystem”, the students would truly grow into participants, builders, and leaders of this innovation “new ecosystem”, and strive to achieve the “three transformations”.

The first transformation is from “paper-based learning” to “real-world engagement”: stepping beyond the boundaries of campus-based academic theories, immersing themselves in the broader society, confronting cutting-edge unsolved issues head-on, gaining first-hand experience, taking practical action, and working to identify and solve problems.

The second transformation is from a “short-term perspective” to “long-term thinking”: guided by long-term goals, and realizing their value through continuous accumulation, focused dedication, and strategic resolve.

The third transformation is from a “self-centered mindset” to a “greater collective perspective”: breaking free from the limitations of the “self”, fostering a mindset that cares for the “greater collective”, embracing great changes with a broader vision, closely linking their personal growth to national strategies and the revitalization of Liaoning, and running at full speed on the “golden track” laid out for young people by Chinese modernization.
