Recently, the “International Forum on Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development and Unveiling Ceremony of Shenyang Federation of Social Sciences Research Base” hosted by Liaoning University (LNU) and organized by the Sunwah International Business School, was held at Puhe Campus. Vice President Qiu Huanguang attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

On behalf of LNU, Qiu Huanguang extended a warm welcome to the delegation from De Montfort University (UK) and all the distinguished guests. He introduced the university’s disciplinary strengths as a national “Project 211” institution and a “Double First-Class” initiative university, as well as its achievements in international education. He highlighted the explorations and results of the Sunwah International Business School in China-British cooperative education and digital education reform.

Kassim Sheik, Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at De Montfort University, expressed the importance placed on and expectations for the cooperation via a video speech, reviewing the long-standing ties between the two universities in areas such as joint talent cultivation and academic exchanges.

Liu Yachao, Secretary-General of the Shenyang Federation of Social Sciences, affirmed the timeliness of the research center’s establishment in his speech. He regarded it as a significant measure by Shenyang’s social sciences community to implement the national “AI+” strategic deployment and promote the deep integration of philosophy and social sciences with cutting-edge technologies.

Following the opening ceremony, the unveiling ceremony for the “Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Corporate Sustainable Development Culture” was held. Qiu Huanguang and Liu Yachao jointly unveiled the plaque, marking the official launch of the center.

The forum featured two main segments: a keynote report session and an academic presentation session, gathering insights from Chinese and international scholars to present a high-level academic feast. During the keynote reports, Professor Sun Xinbo from Northeastern University shared cutting-edge findings on “AI-Enabled Innovation in Business Management Research”. Professors Xie Mingyi, Zhao Deqi, and Wang Xiaohui from LNU provided in-depth interpretations on topics including “Building a Joint Education Ecosystem”, “The Logic of Governance in China’s Economic Development”, and “Reshaping Business Education in the AI Era”, respectively offering new perspectives for educational transformation and academic research.
In the academic presentation session, Associate Professor S. Kumar Bilara Marri, Associate Professor Samuel Cormack, and Dr. Jack Lewis Brown from De Montfort University (DMU), along with Associate Professor Zhang Hua and Associate Professor Meng Jiajia from LNU, shared their research findings. They explored practical pathways and innovative applications of artificial intelligence in fields such as auditing, manufacturing, finance, and higher education from various angles, including “AI Applications in ESG Data Auditing”, “Digital Transformation and Sustainable Development in Manufacturing”, and “AI Driving Sustainable Finance”.
Experts, scholars, faculty, and student representatives from institutions including De Montfort University, Northeastern University, and Liaoning University gathered to discuss new opportunities in artificial intelligence and sustainable development.
