The award list for the 2025 “FLTRP Guocai Cup” Understanding Contemporary China Liaoning Provincial University Foreign Language Proficiency Competition (International Chinese Group) Short Video Competition for International Students in China, hosted by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education, has been recently announced. All three entries submitted by Liaoning University received awards, achieving outstanding results. Among them, the work “Reflecting on the ‘Two Mountains Spirit’ in the Sands, Painting a Beautiful China Together” by Zambian student Danny Siame, jointly recommended by the Institute of International Education and the Asia-Australia Business College, won the Silver Award. The works “Beautiful China, Charming Shenyang” by Vietnamese student Thuong Le Thi and “I Love China” by Pakistani student Anam Shabbir, both jointly recommended by the Institute of International Education and the College of Foreign Studies, received the Bronze Award and the Merit Award, respectively.

The work “Reflecting on the ‘Two Mountains’ Spirit in the Sands, Painting a Beautiful China Together” interprets the ecological concept of “Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” from the unique perspective of an international student. It vividly showcases the practical achievements in desert control in Zhanggutai Town of Liaoning, highlighting China’s firm actions and remarkable results in ecological protection and sustainable development.

The work “Beautiful China, Charming Shenyang” deeply integrates Shenyang’s rich historical and cultural heritage with the vibrant energy of a modern metropolis. From the classical elegance of the Imperial Palace to the city’s dynamic development, it presents a comprehensive display of Shenyang's unique charm.

The work “I Love China” expresses genuine emotion in simple language, sharing the experiences and cultural insights of Pakistani student Anna during her study and life in China. Every word radiates the international students’ affection for Chinese culture and their attachment to life in China.

With the theme “Understanding Contemporary China,” this competition serves as a significant platform for international students in China to perceive and express the country. Through the competition, the students not only enhanced their Chinese language proficiency and short video creation skills but also gained a deeper appreciation of the essence of “Chinese modernization” by closely observing Chinese society and exploring Chinese stories. This experience further strengthened their recognition of Chinese culture and understanding of China’s development.
