To further advance the university’s strategy of opening up education to the outside world, expand high-quality cooperation networks in South America, and promote pragmatic exchanges and cooperation with overseas universities, LNU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro(UERJ), Brazil. The two sides intend to carry out in-depth cooperation in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, joint student training, and collaborative research projects, and work together to facilitate the exchange and development of higher education between China and Brazil.

Founded in 1950, UERJ currently offers 80 undergraduate programs with a student population exceeding 32,000. Its main campus is located in Rio de Janeiro, a picturesque coastal city in southern Brazil. The university was formed by the merger of the Rio de Janeiro School of Economics, School of Law, Lafayette School of Philosophy, and School of Medicine. After more than 70 years of development, it has evolved into a comprehensive university with a complete range of disciplines and strong academic strength. UERJ boasts notable academic advantages in fields such as Arts and Humanities, Sociology, Business, Economics, Engineering and Technology, Physics, Law, Psychology, Life Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Education, and Computer Science.
Currently, China and Brazil maintain frequent cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, science and technology, culture, and education. On the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the establishment of cooperative relations between Liaoning University and Brazilian universities is both timely and of profound significance. Taking the signing of this MOU as an opportunity, the two parties will carry out pragmatic cooperation in education, scientific research, and people-to-people exchanges, promote resource sharing, academic mutual learning, and joint talent cultivation among universities in China and Brazil, inject new vitality into higher education cooperation between the two countries, and contribute to the development of China-Brazil friendly relations.
