On December 23, the opening ceremony for the “Immersed in the East” U.S. Youth Science, Innovation, and Cultural Study Tour Program was held at the Golden Hall of the Institute of International Education at Liaoning University’s Chongshan Campus. Representatives from the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Communication, and the Law School introduced the academic achievements of Liaoning University (LNU) in terms of disciplinary strengths, teaching resources, and exchange prospects, expressing earnest hope for deeper communication and friendship between Chinese and American youth.
Thirteen participants from the United States traveling across the ocean will embark on a 14-day transnational exchange journey integrating cultural exploration and science innovation experiences. The American group leader, Kellie, expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception and thoughtful arrangements provided by Liaoning University. She stated that this educational journey offers American teachers and students hands-on practice and cultural exchange opportunities not available in textbooks, and that the cross-national experience will become a cherished memory for all. Shannen Murray, a teacher from the Bolles School in the United States, noted that this visit not only provides an in-depth understanding of China and the study tour program but also builds a solid bridge for exchanges between the youth of China and the United States. Participant representative Christina shared her expectations and aspirations for the study tour.
This study tour project is a vivid practice in response to the initiative for friendly exchanges between Chinese and foreign youth and serves as an important opportunity to build a two-way communication bridge between young people from China and the United States. Participants will deeply experience Liaoning University’s national-level virtual simulation experimental courses, feel the unique charm of intangible cultural heritage such as Tai Chi and movable-type printing, visit innovation achievement exhibitions at technology enterprises, appreciate the distinctive scenery of Northeast China’s ice and snow, and enhance their understanding of traditional Chinese culture, modern technological development, and urban vitality through diverse experiences.
