In order to implement the requirements of the Liaoning Provincial Committee on vigorously promoting the study of local history and to fully leverage the role of universities as the “vanguard” in local cultural and historical research, the Unveiling Ceremony of the Liaoning University (LNU) Research Center for the History of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was held on January 7 at the Administration Building of the Puhe Campus. Gao Tianyu, Director of the Party History Research Office of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee, attended the ceremony. Pan Yishan, Secretary of the CPC LNU Committee, attended and delivered a speech. Wang Jianli, Deputy Director of the Party History Research Office of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee, and Zhang Hongxin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC LNU Committee, were also in attendance. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Qiu Huanguang.

Pan Yishan stated in his speech that the establishment of the Research Center for the History of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression is a concrete action taken by LNU to thoroughly implement the important speeches, directives, and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the revitalization and development of Northeast China and Liaoning. It is also a necessary responsibility to support the comprehensive revitalization of Liaoning and strengthen local historical research. He emphasized that the mission of the research center is to address contemporary concerns and solve real-world problems, which vividly embodies the university’s educational philosophy, persistently promoted over the past decade, of “stepping out of campus to find real-life scenarios, entering society to identify genuine issues, and moving to the forefront to seek pragmatic innovation”. He expressed hope that the research center would focus on practical topics such as the protection and development of sites related to the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, explore the contemporary significance of the Spirit of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, including “military-civilian unity, hard work, and pioneering courage,” and ensure that historical research addresses current real-world issues, effectively serving the practical needs of local industrial transformation and livelihood improvement.
Pan Yishan expressed hope that, under the guidance of the Provincial Party History Research Office, the cooperation mechanism would be continuously improved, high-quality resources within the university would be integrated, and support for the research center would be strengthened. He stressed the importance of translating the mission and tasks entrusted to Northeast China and Liaoning by General Secretary Xi Jinping into specific construction goals and development directions for the research center. The aim is to build the center into a key base for the research, inheritance, and innovation of Liaoning’s red culture, making tangible contributions from LNU to national priorities and providing wisdom and strength to promote the development of philosophy and social sciences in Liaoning and serve regional cultural prosperity.
