Yu Miaojie, President of the university, conducted field visit and safety inspection at Chongshan Campus Library of Liaoning University (LNU) a few days ago. Zhang Hongxin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Qiu Huanguang, Vice President, and Lu Hui, Vice President accompanied the visit.

Yu Miaojie examined the library’s public reading areas, book stacks, and public service spaces, gaining detailed information about facility operations, safety measures, and daily management. He emphasized that the library serves as a crucial support platform for the university’s teaching and research activities and is a key front for implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtuous talents. Given the library’s extended opening hour, high visitor flow, and demanding service requirements, he stressed the need to continuously strengthen its core functions, enhance safety awareness, and accelerate the upgrade of library infrastructure. He called for strict adherence to safety inspections and environmental management protocols to ensure early detection and resolution of potential hazards, maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly library environment. Additionally, he encouraged the library to pool collective efforts to address key challenges in its operation, adhering to the principle of integrity and innovation to create a functional and comfortable learning space for teachers and students.

Song Fang, Director of the Library, provided a detailed report on the library’s history, digital resource development, intellectual property information services, spatial optimization, and the building of a smart library. Yu Miaojie acknowledged the library’s efforts in serving teachers and students, particularly commending initiatives such as the “Weekly Recommendation” column on the WeChat public platform, which promotes database usage, and the winter practice of opening windows at noon to improve air quality. He encouraged the library to continue to align its services with the needs of teachers and students, deepen its service offerings, and continuously enhance the user experience to support the university’s high-quality development.
