Students from Liaoning University(LNU) have achieved outstanding results in the 2026 Liaoning Province—Gyeongsangbuk-do Korean Speech Contest.
On April 14, the 2026 Liaoning Province—Gyeongsangbuk-do College Students’ Korean Speech Contest, themed “Hand in Hand with Sister Cities, Building Dreams Together”, was successfully held at Dalian University of Foreign Languages (DUFL). The competition was jointly organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Liaoning Province and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government of the Republic of Korea, and hosted by DUFL and the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation. It aimed to build a language exchange platform for Chinese and Korean youth, deepening cultural exchanges and practical cooperation between the two regions. Sixteen contestants from various universities in Liaoning Province, selected through multiple rounds, advanced to the finals, where they competed on the same stage and showcased their talents.
The contest consisted of two segments: a prepared speech and an impromptu Q&A, revolving around themes such as “The Significance of China-Korea Youth Exchanges”, “Opportunities and Challenges for China-Korea Cooperation from the Perspective of APEC”, and “The Power of Language and the Value of Communication”. The contestants expressed their viewpoints and shared stories in fluent and natural Korean, demonstrating solid language skills and strong critical thinking abilities through intellectual exchange. The judges evaluated the participants comprehensively based on criteria including content depth, language proficiency, and on-stage performance, speaking highly of the overall standard of the contestants.
During the preparation process, the participating students from the School of International Economics and International Relations of LNU meticulously refined their speech content and repeatedly practiced their presentation skills under the careful guidance of their instructors. On stage, they remained calm and composed, delivering stable performances that reflected strong psychological resilience and professional competence. Ultimately, Zhang Yirui won the second prize, while Sun Yuxuan, He Yeqi, and Lan Ya received the Excellent Award. Instructors Piao Songxi and Song Hailian were awarded the Excellent Instructor Award, fully showcasing the effectiveness of talent cultivation in our university’s Korean language program.

The School of International Economics and International Relations has always adhered to a talent cultivation-centered philosophy, emphasizing the integration of language proficiency and practical skills. It actively organizes students to participate in high-level academic competitions, promoting learning and teaching through contests, and continuously enhancing students’ comprehensive qualities and international perspectives. The achievement in this competition is a concentrated reflection of the university’s efforts to deepen teaching reforms and strengthen the effectiveness of practical education.
In the future, the School of International Economics and International Relations will continue to leverage the China-Korea local exchange and cooperation platform, expand multi-level practical channels, and cultivate more high-caliber foreign language talents with an international vision and a sense of national commitment. This will contribute youthful energy to promoting friendly exchanges between China and Korea and fostering regional cooperative development.
