LNU Students Excel in the National Finals of the Humanoid Robot Event at the China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition

At the just-concluded National Finals of the Humanoid Robot Event of the 28th China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition (CRAIC), two student teams from LNU, guided by Professor Dong Bo of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, won one National First Prize (ranked 6th nationwide in points) and one National Third Prize, achieving a historic breakthrough for the University in this event.

The China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition (CRAIC) is a nationwide academic competition hosted by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence. It is a top-tier national Class A academic competition recognized by the Ministry of Education. The competition aims to cultivate versatile talents who are capable in practice, daring in innovation, and skilled in collaboration, and to drive the development of the “AI+” and “Robotics+” new-economy industrial system. It is one of the most influential and most technically advanced robotics academic competitions in China.

The National Finals of the Humanoid Robot Event were held from August 1 to 3, 2026, at Shougang Park, Shijingshan District, Beijing. The event received continuous coverage from central mainstream media including CCTV, People’s Daily Online, and Xinhuanet, drawing wide public attention. Nearly 200 universities from across the country took part, including top engineering universities such as Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, with more than 7,000 students registering for the competition. After two rigorous rounds of university-level preliminaries and provincial semi-finals, more than 200 top teams advanced to the National Finals. Only three teams from Liaoning Province qualified, a sign of the unprecedentedly fierce competition.

The two teams from Liaoning University squared off against strong rivals from many “Double First-Class” universities with confidence and composure. During preparation, faculty and students tackled technical challenges together, repeatedly debugging the humanoid robots’ hardware, refining the intelligent control programs, and optimizing the adversarial game algorithms. In the arena, the team members leveraged their solid grounding in engineering practice, flexible on-the-spot adjustments, and well-developed competitive strategies to perform steadily. They went on to beat many veteran teams in round after round of intense head-to-head competition.

These awards showcase LNU students’ professional strength in embodied intelligence, humanoid robot programming, and intelligent game algorithms. They are also an important achievement of the University’s sustained commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship education and of its focus on developing students’ engineering practice and sci-tech innovation capabilities.
