Xu Kunlin Conducts Field Visit at Liaoning University and Shenyang Aerospace University

On September 9, 2026, Xu Kunlin, Secretary of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee, conducted a fild visit at Liaoning University (LNU) and Shenyang Aerospace University, extending festive congratulations and sincere greetings to the teachers. He stressed the need to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important message on education as well as his important speeches and instructions concerning Liaoning, firmly build and practice a correct view of governance performance, fully implement the Party’s educational policies, fulfill the fundamental task of training virtuous talents, deepen reform and innovation, advance the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent, make solid progress toward high‑quality connotative development to better serve national major strategies and the all‑round revitalization of Liaoning Province.

     

   

    At the Faculty of Economics of Liaoning University, Secretary Xu Kunlin observed collective lesson‑preparation and teaching‑research activities and held in‑depth exchanges with the research team.

 

Marking its 78th anniversary, Liaoning University has grown into a comprehensive university embracing literal arts, science and engineering. At the start of a new semester, Xu Kunlin visited Puhe Campus of Liaoning University, toured exhibitions at the university history museum and learned about the university’s development trajectory. He pointed out that Liaoning University has always advanced in step with the cause of the Party and the country. Rooted in Liaoning, it has cultivated generations of outstanding talents. On the new journey, the university must keep in mind its original mission of cultivating people for the Party and the country, carry forward fine traditions, keep pace with the times, accelerate comprehensive reforms, advance the development of ideological and political-related courses, and continuously foster a new landscape for talent training. Guided by the “Double First‑Class” initiative, it should refine its features, build on its strengths, scientifically readjust and optimize its disciplinary layouts and talent‑training models, further apply artificial intelligence to empower teaching and learning, and enhance educational quality and comprehensive strengths.    

The Faculty of Economics of Liaoning University boasts a cohort of leading talents and high‑level research teams. Xu Kunlin inspected the development outcomes of the “Double First‑Class” discipline of Applied Economics, observed collective lesson‑preparation and teaching‑research session and interacted with teachers and students. He encouraged faculty members to ground their work in national and provincial realities, focus on practical development issues, and strengthen theoretical and systematic research so as to contribute to building an independent knowledge system for Chinese economics. At the Faculty of Discipline Inspection and Supervision and Law, he learned about the exploration and practices for developing the discipline of discipline inspection and supervision through the interdisciplinary integration of Marxist theory and law, as well as the application of relevant research findings. He emphasized that Liaoning University should strive to build high‑level new‑type think tanks. It must focus on real problems and deliver real solutions, conduct in‑depth investigations and research closely aligned with Liaoning’s revitalization drive, pursue organized interdisciplinary research, and offer practical and workable solutions.    

During the visit, Xu Kunlin inquired in detail about teachers’ study and work and listened to reports on faculty development at the two universities. He stressed that building a strong teaching team is a prerequisite to boost education. Universities across the province should regard developing a high‑quality, professional teaching workforce as a fundamental and strategic undertaking. Efforts shall be made to integrate the cultivation of educators’ spirit for faculty building with competency improvement, uphold professional ethics as the primary criterion, improve long‑term mechanisms for teachers’ ethical conduct, refine training systems, help teachers broaden their horizons, update their knowledge and acquire new technologies including artificial intelligence, actively attract and cultivate high‑level interdisciplinary teachers, and comprehensively strengthen the development of young faculty to consolidate the foundation for institutional growth.    

Provincial leaders Zhao Cheng and Chu Tianyun joined the visit.
