A New Achievement in ‘Double First-class’ Development: LNU Involves in Jointly Running Asian Economic Papers

As Liaoning University enjoys a solid foundation in ‘Double First-class’ Development, Asian Economic Papers (AEP), a famous SSCI economic journal published by MIT Press has decided to jointly run the journal with Liaoning University. Together with the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University of the United States and other units, Liaoning University has become one of the sponsors of the journal. With this, Liaoning University has emerged to be one of the leading universities under the ‘Double First-class’ initiative to involve in running an English SSCI economic journal.

Asian Economic Papers focuses on the study of Asian economic issues, which is published by MIT Press and covers the whole field of economics. MIT Press is a world-renowned publisher that publishes works and journals in the interdisciplinary fields of science, technology and art sponsored by MIT. Its journals aims to publish the research results of academic frontiers. AEP encourages authors to adopt an interdisciplinary research perspective, combine theories and methods of different disciplines such as economics, political science and sociology to conduct rigorous analysis of key economic problems in a specific Asian economy or a wider Asian region and provide creative solutions to these economic problems. Articles published in the journal tend to explore key issues of the Asian economies, such as macroeconomic policies, international trade, financial system, labor market, regional integration and development strategies by using empirical research, quantitative analysis and theoretical models. As the journal works to provide a more comprehensive and in-depth analysis framework, it has been deemed as a high-level academic journal with huge international influence. Professor Wing Thye Woo, a Ph.D. from Harvard University, a professor in economics at the University of California, Davis. He has long been a senior researcher at the Brookings Institution and Director of the East Asia Program at Columbia University. His research fields are macroeconomics, international finance and exchange rate economy, economic growth and development, globalization and East Asian issues. He enjoys a high academic reputation in the fields of economics and finance, thus holding research positions in many universities, research institutions and international organizations around the world. He has also provided decision-making suggestions for many governmental departments and international institutions in many countries in macro-economy, foreign exchange management, state-owned enterprise restructuring, trade issues and the development of financial sectors.
