Prof. Pan Yishan was born in May 1964. He is a doctoral supervisor and a famous expert in Mechanics in China. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Tsinghua University, postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Geology of China Earthquake Administration, and is a senior visiting scholar at University of Michigan. He is a national-level talent project leader candidate, a national candidate for the “New Century Talent Project”, and an outstanding talent for the “Liaoning Revitalization Talent Program”. He is currently the Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Liaoning University, Vice Chairman of the China National Group of the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, and Director of the Coal Mine Dynamic Hazard Professional Committee of China Coal Society.
Professor Pan Yishan’s research fields are coal mine rock burst, gas outburst, and coalbed methane mining. In the field of mining engineering, he has been engaged in research on the causes, mechanism, prediction and prevention of coal mine disasters such as rock burst, mine earthquake, and coal and gas outburst, and has achieved remarkable results.
Professor Pan Yishan has long been engaged in research on the prevention and control of rock burst in coal mines. He established the rockburst disturbance response instability theory, developed monitoring and prevention equipment such as coal and rock microseismometer, and electric charge and energy-absorbing supports, and solved the major technical problems of safe mining in rockburst mines. His research results have been written into China’s “Detailed Rules for the Prevention and Control of Coal Mine Rockburst” and other regulations and standards, and are popularized and implemented in the country’s rockburst mines. He won three second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and three first prizes of the Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Award as the first completer. He has published one monograph, obtained 30 Chinese invention patents and two US patents as the first author, and published more than 70 SCI/EI academic papers. He won the National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker in 2010, the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award in 2014, the second National Innovation Award in 2020, and the 14th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award in 2022.
