Prof. CHENG Wei

Prof. Cheng Wei was born in 1954. He is a doctor of Economics who studied in the Soviet Union, a second-level professor, and a doctoral supervisor. He is the chief expert of Liaoning University’s approved first-level discipline doctorate degree in Theoretical Economics, the leading professor of Liaoning University’s approved “World Economy” national key discipline, and the former President and Party Secretary of the CPC Committee of Liaoning University. He used to be the Director of the Economics and Trade Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, the Vice President of the China World Economics Association, the Vice President of the National Institute of International Politics Research in Universities, and is currently serving as the Vice President of the China Society of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He is an expert enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, a member of the National Social Science Fund Evaluation Group, the first batch of selected experts for the National Hundred Thousand Talents Project, an outstanding expert in Liaoning Province, the winner of the first Philosophy and Social Science Achievement Award in Liaoning Province, and the first leading talent in Liaoning Province.

Professor Cheng Wei’s academic research focuses on the economy and politics of countries in transition such as Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe. He has published more than 10 academic works, including Research on the Interaction between Economic Globalization and Economic Transition (Commercial Press, 2005), Ten Theories of the World Economy (Higher Education Press, 2004), and American Monopolar Thinking and the Game of World Multipolarity (Commercial Press, 2012). He has published more than 10 papers abroad, and more than 150 papers in domestic academic journals such as World EconomyWorld Economy and Politics, and International Economic Review. He has presided over more than 20 key projects of the National Social Science Fund, major research projects of philosophy and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, and more than 10 of his research achievements have won national, provincial and ministerial awards. Among them, the project named “Interactive Research on Economic Globalization and Economic Transition” has been selected into the first batch of National Social Science Fund Achievement Library, and won the Second Prize of the fourth excellent achievements in humanities and social sciences research of the Ministry of Education.
