Prof. HU Sheng was born in March, 1969. He is a second-class professor, a doctoral supervisor, an “outstanding talent of the Ministry of Education in the new century”, a distinguished professor of Liaoning Province, a leading talent of philosophy and social sciences in Liaoning Province, and a famous undergraduate teacher in Liaoning Province. He is currently the Dean of the College of Literature of Liaoning University, the Vice President of the Chinese Folklore Society, and the Chairman of the Liaoning Chinese Language and Literature Teaching Steering Committee.

Prof. Hu Sheng’s research interests are novels and operas in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. He is the Chief Expert of the National Social Science Fund’s major project “Collation and Research of Cross-Text Documents of Journey to the West” (17ZDA260). He also presided over the general project of National Social Science Fund “Sorting and Research of Westward Tour Rap Literature” (excellent grade), “Cross-text Research of Journey to the West” (excellent grade), and the project of Westward Tour Rap Compilation funded by the National College Ancient Committee. He published many books including A Study of Demon Novels in Ming and Qing Dynasties (China Social Science Press), Notes on Journey to the West Opera Collection (People’s Literature Publishing House), and Journey to the West Rap Collection (Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House). He has published many papers in Literature Heritage, Literature, Journal of Fudan University, Journal of Nankai, Journal of Social Sciences and Social Science Front. He won the Second, Third and First Prizes of the 6^th, 7^th and 8^thfor outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences of Liaoning Provincial Government respectively. In 2018 and 2020, he won the First Prize of teaching achievement in Liaoning Province and the Second Prize of postgraduate teaching achievement in Liaoning Province in 2022. The team led by Prof. Hu Sheng has been selected into the Innovation Team of Liaoning University and the Excellent Undergraduate Teaching Team of Liaoning University.
