Prof. ZHANG Peng

Professor Zhang Peng (male) was born in May 1961 and currently serves as the dean of the Institute of Painting and Calligraphy of Liaoning University as well as a second-level professor and a doctoral supervisor. Prof. Zhang is an expert receiving special government allowance from the State Council; additionally, he is an Outstanding Expert of Liaoning Province, an Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher of Liaoning Province, and a selectee for the first Shenyang Innovation Leading Talent Program. He is a senior visiting professor of Birmingham City University and a doctoral supervisor of Ulster University, Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok Thonburi University. Prof. Zhang also serves as the vice chairman of the Landscape Architecture Committee of China, a chairman of the Society for the Study of Folk Literature and Arts of Liaoning Province, a member of the National Advisory Committee on Arts Design in Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, a member of China Artists Association, a member of the National Advisory Committee on Arts for postgraduate education, and the president of the Liaoning Alumni Association of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Moreover, Prof. Zhang presides over projects under the National Social Science Fund and National Art Foundation, and he is currently the head of the National Non-Foreign Heritage Training Project.

In recent years, Prof. Zhang has organized many arts exhibitions and exchange activities, including “Chanting of the Earth and the Heart” in Taiwan, “Zhang Peng Sketching Paris” in Paris, “Zhang Peng Sketching London” in London, “Zhang Peng Sketching Sado” in Tokyo, “Painting Travels the World” in Beijing, and “Artistic Dreams for a Century” and “A Century of Dreams: Following the Party” in Shenyang. He has presided over projects under the National Social Science Fund, namely “The Origin and Development of Celestial Oil Painting”. Prof. Zhang’s celestial oil paintings won a gold medal at the International Exhibition of Painting and Calligraphy in Tokyo. He has published over ten art treatises and art works, as well as over ten academic papers in recent years. Over the past decade, Prof. Zhang has received funding totaling nearly 20 million yuan from the National Social Science Fund, the China Culture Foundation, and the China Education Foundation.
