Professor Li Zhiyuan holds a doctoral degree in economics from the University of California, Davis and is an economics professor, deputy director, and doctoral supervisor of the School of Economics at Fudan University. He has been a young scholar in the National Youth Talent Project, a professor for Shanghai Shuguang Scholars, and a talent in the Pujiang Project. Prof. Li currently serves as the associate editor for Journal of Economics as well as an editor board member of Economics and Management Research, Modern Economic Science, and Digital Economy and Sustainable Development. He also is a core member of the Policy Research Group of China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, the deputy director of the China Trade Research Group (CTRG), the managing director of the China Society of World Economics, the director of the Youth Committee of Shanghai Society of World Economics, a member of the National Youth Federation for Financial System, and an academic researcher for the Shanghai Institute of International Finance and Economics.
Prof. Li’s main research areas encompass theory and evidence of international trade as well as international trade policies. He has published many papers in domestic and international journals, including Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of International Economics, Economics Research, Management World, and Economics. Prof. Li has also published a monograph, entitled International Trade Theory and the Experience of China: Credit Constraints, Production Globalization and Trade Participation, as well as translating the Chinese edition of Richard Baldwin’s The Great Convergence.
Prof. Li’s research achievements include having his work being selected as the top 1.0 percent of ESI’s most highly-cited papers, having 1470 Google citations, 738 single citations, and 221 SSCI citations. His research findings have been awarded second prize in the Eighth Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research of Higher Education Institutions, the Sixth Zhang Pei An Award for Outstanding Achievements in Development Economics, first prize in Outstanding Paper at the An Zi Jie Awards for International Trade Research, the Outstanding Paper Award of the Pu Shan Prize, and the Best Doctoral Paper Award in International Trade, along with two research findings being recommended by NBER. Prof. Li has presided over major projects at the Research Base in Humanities and Social Sciences supported by the Ministry of Education, two projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Youth Project, and the Key Teaching Reform Project of Shanghai Universities. He has also participated as a sub-project leader in four major projects of the National Social Science Fund of China.
