Abstract: The rise of environmental history takes ecological crisis as the background and ecology as the theoretical basis. At present, China's ecological thought is similar to that of the west. The dialectical thought of "man and nature" and the traditional ecological thought of ancient China are three sources. Historical, ecological orientation is to introduce ecological concepts and categories, concepts and consciousness, theories and methods into historical research, using ecological concepts and words and language system to interpret human history, on this basis to form a ecological concept as the theme of the concept of history, epistemology and methodology, an ecology thinking and ecological history view. Environmental history should be based on the combination of human biology and sociality to study human activities, and build a discipline study accordingly framework and system. To think and evaluate human "life activity" with the concept of ecology, there is a completely different standard from the past. Ring with life as the center and life care as the theme and ultimate goal, the environmental history can be associated with ecological civilization, and the study of environmental history can be made this has a very strong practical significance.
