Abstract: As a non-traditional politics, global climate change governance has attracted more and more attention from countries around the world. Although the United States played a passive role in the field of international climate change governance at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, due to the impact of the 2008 financial crisis and the emphasis on environmental issues after the Obama administration came to power, the United States has actively participated in the process of international cooperation on climate change in a battle with the European Union for leadership in international cooperation on environmental issues. On the one hand, the United States must take the road of low-carbon economy to completely get rid of the negative impact of economic crisis on the United States; On the other hand, the United States needs to grasp the leadership of international climate change governance to influence the establishment of international cooperation mechanisms, so as to maximize its own interests.
