Feminism in Alice Walker's “The Color Purple”

Abstract: Alice Walker is one of the most outstanding black female writers in the American literary. She was born in 1944 to a black family in Etanton, Georgia in the southern United States. The prejudice of society and the poverty of her family made her deeply understand the difficulties and hardships of being black. Her most successful novel which was written in 1982 was The Color Purple. The novel has attracted widespread attention in the United States. The critics have called it an American novel of permanent importance and a rare work. It won the highest prize in American literature Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award in 1984.
