The Delegation Led by Governor of Irkutsk Oblast of Russia Visits LNU

On the afternoon of June 17, a Russian delegation, led by I. I. Kobzev, Governor of Irkutsk Oblast, accompanied by Sergei Chernenko, Consul General of the Russian Consulate General in Shenyang visited Liaoning University. Cui Changzheng, Deputy Secretary-General of the Peoples Government of Liaoning Province, Wang Qingdong, Party Secretary and Director of the Educational Department of Liaoning Province and Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary and President of Liaoning University met the guests at Puhe Campus.

 

 

 

Director Wang Qingdong extended warm welcome to the guests and made positive remarks on the fruitful achievements in friendly exchanges, educational cooperation, cultural activities between Liaoning Province and Irkutsk Oblast in the past 30 years. He noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between Liaoning Province and Irkutsk Oblast. He hoped that todays activity could enable the two sides enhance their mutual understanding and friendship, exchanges and cooperate in the field of education to promote mutual prosperity and development.

Governor I. I. Kobzev noted that universities from Irkutsk Oblast and Liaoning Province had built a long-term and stable foundation for cooperation and enjoyed good a bright future. He added that Irkutsk would work as a strong supporter in cultivating high-quality talents and hoped that more Chinese scholars could join Russian scientific teams to jointly carry out research projects.

Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Liaoning University noted that Liaoning University had attached great importance to the  educational exchanges and cooperation with Russian universities for a long time. By signing MOUs with a number of Russian universities, the two sides have achieved tremendous achievements in terms of joint training and short-term study of students, academic exchanges of teachers, R&D platforms construction and think tank construction. He hoped that universities from two sides could conduct in-depth exchanges, learn from each other, share successful experience and explore more possibilities to boost the sustainable development in educational field.

President Yu Miaojie accompanied the delegation to visit the Cloud Economy Laboratory, Scenario-based Mechanism Laboratory and the School History Museum and introduced the history and innovative R&D achievements of Liaoning University.

 

 

 

 

Subsequently, an exchange meeting was held between the delegation from Irkutsk Oblast and some universities and colleges in Liaoning Province. Apanovich, Deputy Minister of Education of Irkutsk Oblast, Cao Lan, Member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Educational Department of Liaoning Province, Huo Chunhui, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of Liaoning University attended the meeting. Representatives from Irkutsk State University of Technology, Irkutsk State University, Baikal State University and universities and colleges in Liaoning Province conducted in-depth exchanges on bilateral cooperation.

 

 

 

On the morning of that day, some Chinese and Russian universities signed seven cooperation agreements under the witness of the leaders of the two sides.

Chernenko, Consul General of Russia in Shenyang, Stanikov, First Vice-President of Irkutsk State Government, Soboli, Advisor to Irkutsk State Governor, Kurbatova, Representative of Russian Foreign Ministry in Irkutsk, Guchernikov, Chairman of the Siberian Agreement Executive Committee of Russian Federation Association for Thematic Local Economic Cooperation, Kozlov, Chief Physician of Irkutsk State Children’s Clinical Hospital and representatives from Irkutsk State University of Technology, Irkutsk State University, Baikal State University attended the meeting.
