Abstract:In the 1960s and 1970s, the expanding ecological crisis posed a serious threat to the human living environment. Faced with this situation, the West took the lead in launching a "green movement" to maintain the human living environment. They hope to make "green" sustainable through various forms such as establishing green organizations, forming green political parties, and researching green theories. The comprehensive launch of the green movement marks the beginning of the ecological revolution. For a while, the term "ecology" became a popular term in Europe and America, and many branch disciplines named "ecology" have emerged in fields such as biological science, geographic science, sociology, economics, and philosophy. During this period, a group of renowned scholars studying Marxist ecological thought emerged. The main representative figures include Ben Argyle and William Rice from Canada, Andre Gauze from France, David Pepper from the United Kingdom, James O'Connor and John Bemira Foster from the United States, and Rainier Grundmann from Germany. These scholars have developed the ecological ideas contained in Marxist theory through criticism, construction, and reconstruction, making Marxist theory shine again in the ecological field.

Since the implementation of reform and opening up in 1979, China's economy has experienced tremendous development. In the 21st century, China also faces the same environmental pollution problems caused by industrialization as developed capitalist countries. As a socialist country, China certainly does not want to follow the economic development path of "pollution for development" that capitalism has gone through. Faced with a severe survival situation, China must quickly join the theoretical research team of ecological crisis, stand on a Marxist standpoint, actively learn from the research results of foreign ecological Marxism theory by combining the situation of China's environmental problems, and provide useful theoretical guidance for China's ecological civilization construction. Based on this purpose, the basic framework and main content of this article are as follows:

The introduction section of the article mainly explains the purpose and significance of the topic, integrates the current research status of ecological Marxism at home and abroad, and introduces the research ideas, methods, and innovations of this article. The first chapter mainly provides an overall overview of ecological Marxism. Analyzed the theoretical and historical background of the emergence of ecological Marxism. Introduced the development process of ecological Marxism on a time axis. Chapter 2 focuses on analyzing and refining the main theoretical viewpoints that ecological Marxism has roughly emerged from its inception to the present day. The logical purpose of pointing out these theoretical viewpoints has inherent unity, and the ultimate destination of their development is inevitable. Chapter 3 analyzes and evaluates the theory of Chapter 2, pointing out the rationality and shortcomings of Ecological Marxism theory, and based on this, draws inspiration that is beneficial for China's ecological construction.
