Mechanism Analysis of the Impact of Population Aging on Energy Consumption

Abstract: Based on the statistical data during 1990-2015, the current situation of energy consumption in the production field and the living field of residents under the social environment of population aging is analyzed, and the results show that population aging improves China's industrial structure and reduces the energy consumption in the production field; while in the living field, the indirect impact of population aging contributes to the increase in the level of living energy consumption. In the field of life, the indirect effect of population aging has contributed to the improvement of the level of living energy consumption, and this indirect effect is more through the expansion of the population scale and the increase of the urbanization level. From the point of view of the actual situation in China, the total energy consumption and per capita energy consumption in China are both on the rise, how to improve China's energy supply under the premise of ensuring the quality of life of the residents and the sustainable development of the economy needs to be realized by the efforts of many parties.
