Abstract: Based on the theory of sustainable development of finance ‚, this paper selects three years' index data of 14 listed commercial banks and uses factor analysis to measure and rank the sustainable development level of commercial banks. Based on the results of factor analysis, this paper analyzes the index factors affecting the sustainable development of commercial banks, and compares the levels of sustainable development of different types of commercial banks. The results show that from 2007 to 2009, the sustainable development level of listed city commercial banks is higher than that of joint-stock commercial banks, and that of joint-stock commercial banks is higher than that of large state-owned commercial banks. However, as time goes by ‚ the sustainable development level of large state-owned commercial banks gradually rises ‚ the sustainable development level of joint-stock commercial banks first rises and then declines, while that of listed city commercial banks shows a downward trend.
